Next batch...September to November 2012

Slippers and matching scarf in pink and cream were made for my one year old niece as an early Xmas pressie to keep her warm during Winter! These were quite easy pieces for me as were mainly single crochet and just continued going until they were the right size.

Crocheted car for my nephew for his 4th birthday, he takes it up to bed every night and sleeps with it, and loves throwing it around - all his other toys break when he does that! This is by far the hardest project I've done, stuffing it was the easy part, but sewing all the pieces together wasn't fun at all, and they didn't always fit perfectly together but I guess that will come with more practice.

Doily for the husbands granny for her coffee table, is about 20 inches or so wide. Its a surprise Xmas pressie and has already been wrapped up for its journey up to Scotland!! Took about 18 hours and was really fun to do because of the pretty pattern the different stitches made. Watching it slowly evolve was great!

First 5

These are the first things I've knitted/crocheted this year that have a purpose. The first thing I knitted was a practice shot at making a baby slipper. I wanted to then adjust the pattern so that I could make a pair of slippers for my 1 year old niece. That didn't go so well so I am on the hunt for a better pattern to make slippers that will fit toddlers feet.

Since then I made a matching kindle and phone sock for my husband using multicoloured wool. The ribbing went a bit wrong on my first attempt on the phone sock but I cracked it for the kindle sock.
I then got a new phone so wanted to protect it. I my first attempt was the pink and blue sock which came out too small and luckily is the perfect size for someone's ipod so I'll be giving that away at some point.

I then wanted to give crocheting a go as my best friend was telling me how easy it is. So my first project was the blue bag with the daisy attached which I will give to my other niece for her 9th birthday. I then decided that after dropping my new phone it really needed protection and made the purple phone sock and used a spare button from an old blazer.

All these creations have given me the inspiration, motivation and desire to make all my family and friends gifts for Christmas this year. I know it's 4 months away but if you're making things its probably never too early to start!

If you have any patterns you think I will enjoy let me know. I am still only a beginner though!
